Dataswyft Launches Groundbreaking e-Notary Service in Malaysia
Dataswyft is proud to announce the launch of its innovative e-Notary service in Malaysia, aimed at enhancing data verification within the CheckD Data Wallet. This service represents a new frontier in secure and seamless digital credentialing, enabling users to privately manage, verify, and share their information with confidence.
The CheckD Data Wallet is a cutting-edge platform designed to help individuals easily collect, store, and share their personal data from multiple sources. Users can apply this information to unique "badges" equipped with QR codes, making it easy for them to share details such as their name, address, or even attendance records at the simple scan of their badge.
As digital interactions grow, there is an emerging need for higher levels of assurance. In the physical world, traditional notary services notarize and certify copies of documents as true. Dataswyft's e-Notary service goes beyond certifying documents by verifying and notarizing the key pieces of information contained within such documents. For example, a degree certificate would contain pieces of information on the university, degree type, graduation year, and graduate name. Instead of notarizing the entire document, the Dataswyft e-Notary service enables the pieces of information themselves to be verified and notarized, with the data stored in the CheckD Data Wallet for use and reuse.
"With the launch of our e-Notary service, we're taking the next step in empowering individuals to own and control their data securely," said Professor Irene Ng, Group CEO of Dataswyft, during the official signing ceremony between Dataswyft Malaysia and The Law Office of KK Chong & Co. "By offering a way to have personal information verified and notarized, we're responding to the needs of our clients and partners who require high-assurance data for regulated industries, job applications, and more."
The service would power a more flexible usage of data. Using the earlier example, one piece of stored verified data from a degree certificate, such as “University Name”, can be linked to a badge, such as "University of Newcastle Alumni," making it simple for users to join alumni networks or other communities that require proof of credentials.
While not all data in the Data Wallet needs to be e-Notarized – e.g. information for filling out forms or recording attendance require little or no assurance – the e-Notary service can be essential for industries where trust and verification are paramount. Sectors like banking, healthcare, and cross-border employment are set to benefit greatly from this added layer of assurance.
KK Chong, Partner at KK Chong & Co, shared his excitement about this milestone:
"We are deeply honored to be the first law firm on the Dataswyft e-Notary panel. This partnership marks the beginning of a new era where individuals can share their verified data securely, setting the stage for safer and more efficient digital interactions."
As Malaysia takes another leap forward in digital innovation, Dataswyft’s e-Notary service is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data verification, management, and portability.
